Lucifer: Godless Reawakening

Chapter 321: Son? Nah

Chapter 321: Son? Nah

"Ha...haah...haah.." Emma finally opened her eyes, her breathing slightly ragged as she looked around the place fanatically."Hey, hey." William arrived by her side and held her hand. Through their connected hands, he sent a calling wave through her mind before saying, " It’s okay, you are safe now."

Emma looked at him before nodding, " Y-Yes..." she leaned forward and hugged his arm.

William slowly rubbed her back, trying to soothe her anxiety.

This was probably the first time she was experiencing so much fright after returning from that place.

And William knew the reason.

It was because his dominion over her mind that prevented those deities from pulling her consciousness away. However, in that brief moment of vulnerability, they exploited the chance and took her away.

And because of the strong pull from both sides, the one who suffered was Emma.

"I am sorry I let this happen..." he mumbled, his heart beating restlessly seeing her like this.

Emma shook her head, "It’s okay...I needed to meet him." Emma’s words caused his to frown.

"Nothing he says matters now, dear. Don’t get manipulated by their words."

Emma shook her head, "Not for that purpose. I wanted to ensure that this baby won’t be affected by Lord Michael’s influence." She took his hand and rested it over her belly, "I didn’t want to take any chances, Will."

William’s heart slowed down a little, "Emma...I won’t let anything happen to our child even if I have to wage a war against them."

Emma faintly smiled, her heart fluttering as she cupped his cheek.

Leaning forward she connected her forehead against his and muttered, "They fear just that so they won’t be interfering with our lives again. And as long as I don’t enter Nephilim again, the child will be safe and healthy."

Nephilim was a state when Emma breaches her mortal limits and utilizes her blessing to the fullest. In true sense, she becomes a demi-god in those moments.

And that surely would affect the life forming inside her.

I polished the passage while preserving the tone and emotion.

William squeezed her hand and promised, "As long as I’m here, I promise you’ll never have to lift a finger. Just focus on taking care of yourself. Everything else is my responsibility."

Emma chuckled and teased, "Don’t forget your biggest responsibility now. Make sure you invite all the elders to the wedding."

William smiled faintly. "Already done. Some will arrive tomorrow, and the rest in two days."

A hint of worry crossed Emma’s face. "Then we need to make arrangements. Where will they stay? What about the food..."

"It’s okay, Emma. Everything will be taken care of," he assured her.

Right now, her health and peace of mind were all that mattered. He wanted to make sure she stayed as happy and stress-free as possible.

Still, knowing how little he understood about the pregnancy subject, he had already decided to seek advice from someone with more experience.

After a brief silence, the bedroom door slowly creaked open, and an adorable voice called out,

"Sister..."

Both of them turned toward the doorway, and their hearts instantly melted.

Nana stood there with her big eyes filled with worry, hesitant to step inside, yet too concerned to remain outside any longer.

Smiling gently, Emma beckoned her over.

Nana quietly closed the door before slowly making her way to the bedside.

Emma rested a hand on the little girl’s head and asked softly, "Were you worried?"

Nana nodded. "Brother was so worried... so Nana got worried too."

She had rarely seen her brother react that way. Ever since Emma had fainted, he had barely spoken, remaining by her side the entire time.

Emma glanced at William before looking back at Nana, a helpless smile forming on her lips.

"I made both of you worry, didn’t I? I’m sorry."

Nana shook her head and gently held the hand resting on her head.

Pulling it close to her chest, she whispered, "Please stay healthy, Big Sister. I don’t want to lose you two..."

Her voice trembled as tears welled up in her eyes.

It takes a great deal for a child who has watched her parents die before her to smile again, to trust again, and to depend on someone else.

Now, her whole world revolved around the two people standing before her.

If anything ever happened to them...

No.

Nana didn’t even want to imagine it.

"Nana, don’t cry. Emma is safe now," William said gently as he lifted the little girl into his arms. "And I promise, nothing will happen to either of us."

He softly comforted the trembling child.

Nana nodded as she let him wipe her tears.

Emma then said, "Nana, did you hear? Soon you are going to become a big sister."

Nana turned toward her, her lips faintly curving, "Big brother told me." There was a certain excitement in her eyes as she asked, "When can Nana see her little brother?"

William hummed, "Brother you say...I am not sure about that."

"Yes, it would be a brother." Emma told him, "I have a strong feeling."

William exhaled a sigh, "I hope not. I mean, look at Nana...she is such an angel." The angel in question giggled at the words and hugged his neck.

"See that?" William asked his wife, "But a boy? He would be such a menace."

"How can you be so sure about it? He can have my traits too, no?"

William hummed, "You mean to say I am a menace?"

"Not now, but in the past...hmm~" her grin caused him to narrow his eyes.

Then, he shook his head and said, "Well, let’s keep this conversation for later. I will go prepare lunch now."

Emma asked, "Want my help?"

William carried Nana to the bed and rested her beside Emma before saying, "You just sit here and rest with Nana." Rolling his sleeves he added, "Let me show you a glimpse of how good of a husband you have found."
