Chapter 158: Oh How The Mighty Have Fallen
The aftermath of the attack on Amahle’s life was not as clean as Alex wanted it to be. First, he and Amahle were both detained and interrogated by police. But as they were both experienced in dealing with the authorities, neither of them said anything. Not until Diana and her army of lawyers could arrive.
And soon enough, they did. Where any and all potential charges into Alex and Amahle were dropped. But it was not until the two of them were safely escorted out of the police station and back into Diana’s armored limousine where they received the ass reaming of a lifetime.
Diana was absolutely furious that she kept having to clean up the body count that Alex kept racking up. And she was not talking about how many women Alex slept with... Thus, once they were alone in the vehicle, Diana let her son have it.
“How many times is this going to keep happening, Alex? I thought you told me we were safe, and yet here you are having another shootout in the streets of Las Vegas. When is this going to end?”
Alex looked kind of awkward, as he did not know how to explain to his mother that these assassins were not after him, but rather the girl next to him. And thus all he could do was sigh heavily and take the blame.
“I’m sorry alright, but this isn’t something to freak out about. I’ve got things covered. I’ll make sure things stay out of our city from now on, alright?”
Diana simply pouted when she heard her son say these words. As much as she wanted to believe him, she refused to admit he was capable enough to ensure these hitmen would stop coming for her and her loved ones, and she was just about to explain to Alex that he was grounded, that is until Amahle spoke up and defended him.
“Alex is just covering for me... I apologize, Mrs... Johnson, but these men were after me, not your son. I put him in needless danger, and I for that I am terribly sorry. But you don’t need to worry. I will be flying down to Mexico tomorrow, and you will never hear from me again. That’s a promise...”
Amahle shot Alex an appreciative gaze, which was conveyed to him via the system’s alert.
[Amahle is thankful that you took the fall for her!]
[+5 Affection from Amahle!]
[Amahle’s Affection: 75/100]
Alex simply nodded his head with a stoic expression on his face. He knew that Amahle would soon be walking into the lion’s den, quite literally, as she would be waging war against one of the most vicious and ruthless criminal organizations in the world.
And as much as he might want to protect her from these dangers, he knew there was no convincing the assassin who had long since chosen such a dangerous occupation for herself. Thus, she sighed heavily before apologizing to his mother one more time.
“Sorry mom... I... I didn’t want you to freak out...”
So much so that the man received the worst news of his life from his coach. Chad stood in astonishment, not believing a word he had just heard, as he asked the middle-aged man to repeat himself. His teeth were clenched, and his fists were curled, as the young man attempted to contain his urge to punch his coach in the face.
“Say that again!”
Chad’s coach gazed upon the young man with a pitiful expression, as he sighed heavily before shaking his head.
“You’re off the team Chad... You knew you were one strike away from being cut after that bullshit you pulled with your girlfriend. But now... I mean, just look at yourself. I don’t know what the hell has happened to you, but you are barely playing a high school level right now. I have no choice but to let you go.... It is such a pity, you had so much potential....”
Chad was furious at his coach’s words. He could not believe after all the work he had put in, and for so many years, he was being cut from the UNLV football team. How was this possible? When Chad thought about it, it all came down to one man. And one man alone... Alex... That fucking bastard! The moment that prick came back into Chad’s life, everything had taken a turn for the worse.
If Chad could murder Alex, he would have done so already. But the man was like a demon, who persisted in haunting Chad. Every day that Alex was in his life, it just kept getting worse and worse. Now that Chad had lost Emily, Shannon, and any other potential women in his life, along with his football career. He truly had nothing less, and before he knew it, the young man was on top of his coach, swinging hammer fists at the middle-aged man’s face, screaming about how much of a bastard he was.
“You fucking bastard! You ruined my life! Everything was fine before you came back to Vegas! Why couldn’t you just stay in Korea where you belonged? I hate you! I hate you so much!”
Chad was ultimately pulled off of his coach by his teammates. Where it was only after trying to struggle out of their grip, and being punched in the face, that he realized what he had done. In his moment of overwhelming rage, he had attacked his coach. Guaranteeing not only that, he would never get his spot back on the team, but also that he would be expelled from UNLV as well.
Rather than face justice for his actions, Chad broke free from the grips of his former teammates, and fled the scene of his crimes. There was only one person who kept coming into his mind every time he thought about finding someone to help him.
It wasn’t his parents, nor was it Emily or Shannon. All of which had been there for the young man practically his entire life. Instead... Chad thought about Vanessa. His personal trainer, and the woman who had been training him on how to get his revenge.
After what he did, only she could help him. And thus, she stalked the woman down to her place of employment, and waited for her to get off for the day, before bombarding the Brazilian beauty with his bullshit, in the vain hope that she could fix everything for him.
But nothing could fix what Chad had done. After all, he wasn’t some troubled teen who could use his pitiful existence to get his way off with a slap on the wrist. No, Chad was a grown man, in his early twenties. And he had just assaulted someone twice his age.
The consequences of battery and assault differed per state, but one thing was certain: his former coach would most definitely be pressing charges. Thus adding to the long list of problems that Chad was now facing, and that he now blamed Alex for.
Meanwhile, Alex was not even aware that Chad had gotten himself into such trouble, at least not until he saw the social media posts about it. Where all the women Chad used to fuck came out and condemned the man. A simple smirk emerged on Alex’s face as he witnessed the latest news, before letting a single thought escape from his lips.
“Oh, how the mighty have fallen...”
