Chapter 463: Myrelith, the Serpent Crowned by Tides

Chapter 463: Myrelith, the Serpent Crowned by Tides

Thalion reappeared above the reef from where he had left over a year ago and instantly shifted into the Tidecaller Serpent. He now felt like a completely different being, even though he hadn’t advanced a single level. He could feel the water far and wide. His movements through it felt like he was moving through space without the slightest resistance. It just felt magical—and it would get even better, because there was no reason for Thalion to wait even a second longer with his evolution.Time stopped when he saw the possible evolution before him.

It all started with the Tidecaller Serpent, and he had to say that the option was quite good.

No—not quite good.

This would change everything. It was the payout for all his hard work.

Oh, Thalion would enjoy this evolution.

Myrelith, the Serpent Crowned by Tides (Divine)

The Tidecaller Serpent evolves into Myrelith, the Serpent Crowned by Tides. It has a long and powerful body that can move through the waves without causing a ripple. Its speed is at the top of E-grade evolution. The scales are highly resistant against everything, including water affinity. Even against physical damage, the scales will neutralize most of it. Its jaws are strong enough to break anything it can get a hold of. The Myrelith does not have a weakness, but a clear strength. The skills it uses are only of the most powerful kind. Unleashing powerful water beams that destroy anything in their path is just the beginning—because when the Myrelith truly taps into its potential, the ocean’s current itself will turn. Every level will grant 10 points to Agility, 2 points to Strength, 50 points to Intelligence and Wisdom, 30 points to Toughness, and 5 points to Vitality.

Thalion had hoped for more options, but maybe the system didn’t have that many of divine rarity in E grade.

Either way, this was more than good enough.

He accepted.

His body changed in a blink.

Before, the Tidecaller Serpent had been six meters long and forty centimeters thick. What now hovered over the reef was a true monster.

Thalion was over twenty meters long and over two meters thick.

He turned to get a good view of himself. He had a fin at the end of his tail—only now it had adjusted to his size. He also had a fin on his back that he could raise and lower, a bit like the sail of a sailfish—except this one looked far more advanced.

His scales were as blue as the ocean, and even though they looked built for speed, Thalion knew they were more akin to titanium plates. They would definitely stop a lot of attacks.

If he had possessed this form in the pirate stage with the seawomen and the Scarn, that stage would have been a feeding paradise.

Moving his tail from side to side almost catapulted him forward.

This must be the feeling when you test out your new sports car, Thalion thought, mesmerized.

It all felt unreal.

His vision had also improved greatly—he could now see like a hawk. He could hover in the same position, unmoving like a predator, and one swipe of his tail would launch him forward. If he wanted to move with normal speed, he actually had to move his tail in slow motion.

Very happy so far, Thalion turned to his new skills, which had all received massive upgrades.

Camouflage of the Depths (Divine)

This passive skill allows you to blend in with the water around you. Prey that moves on the surface shall never see you moving through the depths as long as you contain your aura. Even when they have seen you, it is hard to keep track of your movement. When Camouflage of the Depths is active, no tracking or hunter’s mark skills can stick to you.

Tidal Surge (Divine)

The water is your ally and will support you at every moment. It not only allows you to reach speeds far beyond the norm, but the same applies to the power output of your skills. Do not fear close combat—because the tide will be with you.

Tsunami Breaker (Divine)

The serpent calls forth the force of the ocean itself, creating a shockwave of water that radiates outward in all directions. This shockwave will tear everything apart in its wake, with the lingering energy in the water greatly impacting the movement of your enemies.

Tidal Aegis (Divine)

Channel the water around you to form a shield that will protect you from any harm. Once active, the mana cost drops significantly. With Tidal Aegis, you don’t need to fear powerful attacks that would destroy armies.

Myrelith’s Bite (Divine)

The bite of the Myrelith is deadly not only because of the crushing force that can easily shatter anything in its grip, but also because of its sharp, slightly backward-bent teeth that cut through anything. Once bitten, the flow of mana and life force shifts, draining through the wound left by Myrelith’s Bite.

Myrelith’s Vision (Divine)

The Myrelith sees far and wide underwater and can even make out the tiniest movement. In a fight, every single motion becomes completely obvious to the Myrelith, making resistance futile.

Myrelith’s Tidal Lance (Divine)

Power gathers around the Myrelith’s maw as energy is drawn from the surrounding water itself when it uses one of its strongest and most lethal skills—Myrelith’s Tidal Lance. Upon opening its maw, a concentrated water beam bursts forth, annihilating everything in its path.

Blessing of the Myrelith (Divine)

The water is your ally and will always listen to you. This passive skill increases the power output of any skill you use. Mana, life, and stamina regenerate much faster. The water will not only support you but also protect you. Should an enemy try to attack, the water will flow against them, making it very hard to reach you—even when you aren’t moving in the slightest. It also allows you to manipulate the tides with far greater ease. While inside water, you will slowly absorb energy and automatically increase your water affinity.

The system skills like Identify remained the same, but those weren’t the only ones. His Shapeshift skills were also unchanged, as was his divine skill Flamebound Essence.

Thalion guessed that Flamebound Essence didn’t change because it was already divine, and the other skills might not have changed because they were tied to his human form.

The last evolution was already so long ago that he didn’t remember whether all skills had improved—but this was also a special evolution.

The skills now displayed on his status screen were far beyond what he had ever expected.

This body, even without the skills, was already a cheat.

But with these skills?

It was just plain stupid.

Increase your water affinity while inside water. Mana, stamina, and health drain through the wound once bitten. Please...

Also, he was no longer a six-meter-long snake, but something completely different.

In the status screen the difference was also massive.

To see that he was now twenty-nine meters long—getting close to the size of a blue whale—was kind of crazy.

Before, there hadn’t been changes to the stats when evolving, if he wasn’t mistaken, but now things were different. Thalion guessed that it also could have been due to the massive size of his new form. It was logical that it must have more health.

Yet the rise in points couldn’t be linear with the size, since then he would have had even more health.

He also began to wonder how many stats the others got when evolving to E grade. This definitely had to be at the top of what could be possible.

Thalion was itching to try out this new form. Just slowly circling over the reef felt absolutely amazing.

With Tidal Surge and Blessing of the Myrelith, he had two passive skills that just straight-up buffed almost everything he did. If it was enough to fight a chosen had to be seen, but someone like Ethan definitely wouldn’t want to get in the water with him.

Before he could really test the power of this form he had to do a few more evolutions.

The next form was also one he had been waiting for quite a while—and for him, it was the most exciting one.

With a slow movement of his tail, he shot upward to the surface, where an eagle burst out of the water, rising into the sky with a few beats of its wings.
