Chapter 1474 A Small Gift, If Anything

Sir August was quite the amazing person at the end, to think he would open up so much with us about these things... Then again, we brought back corpses of his kids, so I guess he became very emotional. I would have probably done the same on his position. @@@@
Being a Guild Master is surprisingly harder than I imagined at first. I always thought their biggest challenge was just a lot of paperwork and management, but the biggest hurdle is actually... continuing to work as if nothing even when the kids you're raising as adventures might never come back.
I think my whole vision on Adventurer Guild Masters has changed, definitely...
"Yeah, he's amazing," Ruby nodded, agreeing to my words. "I hope you can teach those unruly boys that attacked us when we got here... They might've been rude and a bit weird but... Maybe they aren't so bad, if they can learn and improve."
"I think everyone needs a second chance, yeah," I nodded as well. "Right?" I looked at Celeste.
"Yes... I was once even worse than them..." Celeste nodded. "I did... unthinkable things. Terrible things that I still regret now. But, even after everything, Sylphy helped me to get back to normal, she healed me, and also our friends... her family as well. I... ugh, this is corny as hell, but I owe her and everyone else a lot."
"You sure do, hehehe!" giggled Celica, teasing her. "Did you know Ruby? Celeste used to be a mean girl and she was always looking down on everyone! Or so Mist told me... But Mist also said that she had a heart of gold and loved the demon orphanage they had back in Eastgrain."
"E-Eastgrain?" suddenly August was hearing what we talked about, surprised. "Wait, are you girls from that accursed city?"
"Uh, yeah..." Celeste nodded.
"Yeppers!" Celica nodded.
"Hmm, this is surprising," he said.
"What happened to Eastgrain?" I wondered.
"Ah, well, it went down a lot the last years," said August. "We often get news of things that happen across the world from the Capital of the Elf Kingdom, it is a special newspaper ran by Star Seers, people with clairvoyance that can easily learn about surface-level events as news to keep people informed."
"Oh that's amazing!" I said. "I had no idea..."
"Oh well, I'm sure it was harsh for you, so let's not talk more about it for now," nodded August. "I'll leave you with the receptionist here for now, I have a lot of paperwork to do, take care your majesty."
"Alright, take care too, August!"
As he walked upstairs, I felt like giving him a little memento at least.
So I quickly grabbed a tiny piece of the rainbow core of the Goo Queen and using some metal chains I had stored for accessory making, I created a simple necklace with it using my alchemy skill.
FLASH!
"Done..."
I walked towards him.
"Wait, Sir August, take this."
"Huh?"
I gave him the necklace, as he gasped.
"B-But princess Sylph! Isn't this stone...?!"
"It's a memento, a souvenir or maybe just a little something? I always like gifting things to people, so it's just my thing... Please don't give it back to me and keep it."
"A-Ah... okay," he nodded, sighing. "Thank you so much for such a gift. I'll treasure it..."
"You've gone through a lot, and you always work hard for others, August, thank you for helping this city become a better place," I said.
"Ah, you flatter me princess," he laughed. "It's an honor. I'll keep this as my family's treasure, haha!"
