Chapter 41 - 72 transformation.
Chapter 41: 72 transformation. The original story in the game, *Apocalypse on Earth*, mainly focused on the main character, Seo Yuna.
As such, many other characters were somewhat left in the dark.
An example would be Adonis himself.
In the original route, he and Seo would have traveled to the next town in
Jayhan took a quick step back, allowing the swing to move past him.
Of course, he could have just grabbed the staff and thrown Adonis to the side, but that would only be possible if the golden staff was a regular staff.
Adonis can endlessly increase its weight, making it risky to even think of grabbing it.
As soon as Adonis was off balance, Jayhan raised his foot and stomped him in the ribs.
Adonis’s body went flying upon impact, crashing next to a building that had already been broken down.
With an angry cry, Adonis launched himself out of the debris, immediately going for the attack.
He swung his staff with all his might, huffing and puffing like a wild dog.
Alas, Jayhan was too quick for him.
Mid-attack, Jayhan sped to his back, landing a slap to the back of his head.
"Is this how you intended to fight me, Adonis?"
Frustrated, Adonis turned around and launched yet another attack, anger etched on his face.
"Why won’t you stand still and let me cut you down already?!"
Before he could get close, Jayhan whooshed past him, his dagger slicing Adonis in the gut.
Slowly, Adonis fell to his knees, the rain beating on his body as blood dripped to the ground.
"My blood?"
For the first time in a while, Adonis was injured.
He didn’t scream, nor did he shout; he simply remained there, whispering something to himself.
"Use your divine blessing already. You can’t hope to stand a chance without it."
Almost as if Jayhan was pleading, he stood there, waiting to see what Adonis would do next.
To his surprise, the system notification popped up.
[The character Adonis has activated his Divine Blessing, "72 Transformations."]
The 72 Transformations, a legendary technique wielded by Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, stood as one of his most formidable weapons in his battles against the gods of the celestial realm.
This ability was no mere parlor trick—it granted him the power to shapeshift into anyone or anything, adopting not only their form but also their abilities, strengths, and even their weaknesses.
With this unparalleled skill, Sun Wukong became a terror to any deity foolish enough to challenge him, his name whispered in awe and dread across the heavens.
Yet, when it came to a Divine Blessing, the rules shifted dramatically.
In the original tale, the one chosen as the Monkey King’s Divine Protector was not Adonis but another, a figure whose path diverged sharply from his.
Like Adonis, that predecessor had been granted the blessing of the 72 Transformations, a name that suggested a vast array of forms but was, in truth, more nuanced. Rather than a literal 72 shapes, the blessing unlocked seven distinct forms, each with its own extraordinary power.
The first form, known as the Form of Combat, was the foundation of Adonis’s journey, a state he had mastered and wielded with devastating precision throughout his quest.
It cloaked him in raw, primal strength, turning him into a whirlwind of destruction on the battlefield.
The second form, however, was where the true essence of divine protection began to manifest—a form reserved for those consumed by a burning conviction, a relentless drive for vengeance.
The original bearer of the blessing, despite their own prowess, had lacked this fire, only barely tapping into the second form during the fifth scenario of their saga.
Adonis, by contrast, had met every criterion with unyielding resolve. Even with an elite-tier divine protector in the original story, Adonis’s power surpassed all expectations, his potential blazing brighter than his predecessor’s.
With a high-tier god like Sun Wukong as his patron, Adonis was poised to outshine any adversary, his strength bordering on the divine.
Such power, however, came with a cost—it demanded control, restraint, a taming of the wild force within him.
Slowly, Adonis rose to his feet, his presence commanding the air around him. His eyes glowed with a fierce golden light, like twin suns igniting in the dusk.
Across his body, hundreds of intricate markings flared to life, each one pulsing with radiant energy, as though his skin had become a constellation of stars.
This was the second transformation: the Form of the King, a state that radiated authority and untamed power, its very aura bending the world to its will.
"Now, all I have to do is bu—"
Before the thought could fully form, Adonis vanished from his spot, a blur of motion too swift for the eye to follow.
In an instant, he was at his opponent’s side, his fist clenched tight, poised to deliver a blow that carried the weight of divine fury.
Before Jayhan could think to react, the attack had landed, shattering his ribs as his body went crashing into a building.
