Chapter 1214: I Don’t Have the Fortune to Enjoy That
Easton Holmes thought the apple would be sweet, but what he didn’t expect was that the apple was even sourer than the kiwi he just had. He looked at Lily Turner next to him and saw her covering her mouth, laughing. That’s when he realized he’d been fooled by his wife again.
Fortunately, he hadn’t thrown away the napkin he grabbed earlier. He quickly spat the apple out into it, deciding not to casually eat fruits from the platter. He picked up a cup of cold water from the table, drank a few sips to suppress the sour taste in his mouth, and finally felt the sourness decrease significantly.
"How can this apple be so sour? Is it spoiled?" Although Easton usually wasn’t a big fan of fruits, the apples he’d eaten were always sweet. This was the first time he’d encountered such a sour apple, which made him seriously suspect it was spoiled.
Lily Turner pointed a finger holding a fork at the green apples in the fruit bowl and smiled at the confused man: "Green apples are naturally sour. Haven’t you eaten a green apple before?"
She could tell that her husband hadn’t just never eaten green apples before—he’d never even seen one. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been tricked by her just now.
"Are you sure these apples aren’t spoiled just because they’re this sour?" Easton asked doubtfully, lowering his head to take a closer look at the apples in the bowl. Only then did he notice that the apples were green, not like the big red ones he had eaten before.
Lily nodded confidently: "I’m sure these apples aren’t spoiled. Do you want to try another piece? See for yourself if these apples are bad."
As she spoke, she speared another piece of apple with a fork and once again brought it to the man’s lips.
Seeing the green apple Lily was offering to his mouth, Easton leaned back slightly as if he had seen something terrifying, avoiding the apple near his lips, "You can keep these apples for yourself. I don’t have the taste for such delicacies."
It was too sour; just looking at those apples now gave him a mental block.
He pushed her hand away from in front of him and fed the apple piece into her mouth with the fork.
Buzz buzz buzz!
At that moment, the phone in Easton Holmes’ pocket suddenly rang. He frowned slightly, took the phone out of his pocket.
"Who’s calling?"
Lily Turner leaned over to see who was calling, but she saw nothing.
Before she could get closer, Easton moved the phone to one side, used his free hand to touch her cheek, "You just enjoy your fruit, I’ll step out to take this call."
With those words, he stood up with his phone and left the living room.
Watching the tall figure stride out of the living room, Lily Turner pursed her lips helplessly. He was always so secretive about answering calls, making her feel like she was just a waste who only ate and slept.
She didn’t want to be a waste!
Lily turned her gaze away from the direction Easton had left. At that moment, she made a silent resolve in her heart to start preparing for her postgraduate exams now.
She initially planned to start working hard after having the baby, but now she realized that if she didn’t start now, she would truly become useless.
Lily decided not to tell Easton about this decision. He would definitely oppose it if he knew, and she didn’t want to create any discord with him over this, as that would affect their relationship.
Easton Holmes, who was taking a call in the garden, had no idea that his wife’s decision was prompted by his deliberate evasiveness.
