Chapter 320: The Lord’s Four Guardians, Forbidden Spell In The Kingdom [1]

Chapter 320: The Lord’s Four Guardians, Forbidden Spell In The Kingdom [1]

"You don’t seem very friendly for people who are just following orders," Leon replied with a cautious and suspicious gaze, "And let go of her right now or..."

"Or what exactly?" the NPC holding Celeste grinned with clear amusement at Leon’s threat, "You’re going to make us all explode with some spell? You don’t stand a chance against the four of us, kid, so don’t even bother trying."

"You might be extremely strong among all the other players at your level," the archer smiled smugly, "But in this place and at this moment, we are the ones that decide what happens, not you."

"We are the lord’s personal guardians," Mathilde announced proudly, her chest puffing out with self importance, "Anyone who stands in our way or disobeys the lord’s orders is as good as dead, no matter who they think they are!"

"So, Celestial, we know all about your kind, but this is the first time we have seen one directly in person," the mage Iris giggled with curiosity, "You seem strong from what we have heard... but at the same time, standing here before us, you look surprisingly weak."

’My kind...?’

Leon gazed at the four guardians surrounding him from all sides, and one of them holding Celeste firmly in place while not letting her go even an inch.

’At least they did not kill her instantly when they had the chance,’ Leon’s expression tightened with worry, ’That means they want something from us, but this still is not good at all.’

"Anyway, who the fuck are you guys supposed to be," Leon asked directly, hoping to buy some time and gather information, "You are..."

"We already told you, silly boy, we are the lord’s guardians," Iris interrupted him with a wave of her hand.

They each introduced themselves rather calmly after that, which really confused Leon because he had expected them to just attack immediately rather than standing around talking.

Mathilde, who he already knew from before, was the tall and muscular woman carrying the massive shield, and she seemed to be the defensive specialist of the group.

Elliot was the one who had shot the arrow that had injured Pyra so badly, and he was the best archer in the entirety of [Higher Domain #3].

Marcus was the dark skinned warrior who currently was holding Celeste.

And finally, Iris was the mage of the group, who much like Elliot was the strongest of her speciality across the domain, being the strongest mage in [Higher Domain #3], and one of the most talented magic users across the entirety of the higher domains as a whole.

’Emilia will be much stronger than her when she reaches your level,’ Leon scoffed internally at Iris’s boasting, ’But we will have to actually get there first before that comparison means anything...’

For now, Leon mainly needed to figure out a way to escape this terrible situation with neither him nor Celeste dying, which was not going to be easy.

"The [Awakener Lord] had originally ordered that you stay in the [Exiled Lands] for a few months until he allowed you to come back to the kingdom," Marcus spoke as he finally let go of Celeste, though he kept himself positioned between her and any escape route, "And yet here you are, back in such a short amount of time."

"What the fuck are you even talking about," Leon’s eyes narrowed dangerously at Marcus, "I was asked to bring the [Magicless Core] back as proof of completing the test, and I did exactly that."

"...Sure, you brought the core back, we cannot deny that," Marcus admitted with a shrug, "But still, even if you found the item and completed the test, how exactly did you come back here to the kingdom so quickly?"

It was only then that Leon understood what was really happening behind the scenes.

He almost wanted to laugh out loud at the absurdity of it all, but indeed, the awakener lord had absolutely no plans to let Leon return to the kingdom quickly at all, no matter how fast he completed the test.

Even if Leon had found the item successfully, he would have been forced to survive in the exiled lands for a while until the awakener lord finally decided that enough time had passed and allowed him to return.

But since Leon had the [World Map] in his possession, an item no other player had, he could simply teleport himself back whenever he wanted, which had completely disrupted the lord’s original plan to keep him away.

"No one who is sent to the [Exiled Lands] is allowed to return to the kingdom until their sentence is fully complete," Mathilde shouted at Leon as she raised her shield.

At that moment, Iris swayed her staff gently through the air, and a massive silver cage dropped on top of Leon out of nowhere from above, and another identical cage dropped on Celeste at the same time, trapping the two of them inside separate magical prisons.

Immediately after the cages landed, Mathilde and Marcus advanced toward each of the two players at once, closing in for whatever came next.

’Alright,’ Leon thought with a cold and deadly gaze, ’I’m completely done with this bullshit.’

He did not care anymore if he killed thousands of people in the process or if it meant causing massive destruction to the kingdom.

Because right now the situation was very clearly turning deadly for him and Celeste.

Leon needed to escape no matter what it took, and no matter what terrible costs came with that escape, he would do it without looking back.

He and Celeste might both die in the process of casting his forbidden spell, but they both had ways to revive themselves afterward, which was not as bad as it seemed compared to being captured by these guardians.

The pressure around Leon had reached its absolute peak after all that, and it would not take long for the four guardians to notice what he was building up, so instead of waiting any longer, Leon decided to take immediate action right now.

And he swung his staff downward with all his might.
