Chapter 96: A maid corps - 93
Chapter 96: A maid corps - 93
The large, ugly face Peter hated looking at was removed as well. Part of its gold was used to coat the ship's hull, while the rest was crafted into various golden ornaments scattered throughout the vessel, the most notable being a gigantic roaring monkey mounted at the bow.
Of course, Peter was almost certain that Nami had secretly pocketed a small piece of gold for herself. Most likely, she had hidden it somewhere in her room and was hugging it at night.
Peter even considered sneaking into her room one night and catching her red-handed. If he did, he could use it as leverage to force her to accept the proposals she had rejected time and time again.
Alongside these modifications, Peter finally received the ship's complete specifications.
Just as he had expected, the vessel measured 240 meters in length, 98 meters in width, and stood 65 meters tall. It consisted of seven decks—three above and four below—divided into more than thirty separate sections, including living quarters, training facilities, and energy systems.
The number of large and small rooms exceeded four hundred, including the captain's quarters, storage rooms, restaurant, and many other facilities.
And that was after the power systems and internal transportation network had already occupied a massive amount of space.
In short, it was a truly enormous ship.
Fortunately, it wasn't a conventional seafaring vessel. Otherwise, merely moving it would have been enough to give Peter a headache.
Even so, placing a giant golden bell on board was no simple task.
"If this thing damages my ship, I'll kill both you and Karina."
Peter warned Nami and Karina before flying toward the bell and lifting it effortlessly. Following the directions shouted by the women, who kept guiding him left and right, he finally placed it at the stern, where it blended with the ship as if it had always belonged there.
The moment that tremendous weight settled onto the vessel, the ship noticeably sank lower.
Nami immediately ran to the bow and tinkered with the spherical energy storage device there before returning with a relieved expression.
"Perfect. No problems at all. It's true that energy consumption increased after adding the bell, but with a full charge, we can still fly at maximum speed for half a month without stopping."
"Pirate technology makes absolutely no sense."
Peter muttered before raising his head and looking at everyone.
The women immediately stopped their enthusiastic discussion about the new ship when they noticed his gaze.
"The new ship is ready. We've obtained the greatest treasure of Skypiea, and we've also welcomed a new companion."
Peter pointed toward Conis, who was standing at the back of the group.
"It's time to set sail and take part in what's coming next. This era is about to explode. Are you all ready?"
"We've been ready for ages! Let's turn the world upside down!"
Mikita raised her fist excitedly, and the others quickly joined in.
Nami: "Forward! To the New World!"
Vivi: "One Piece, here I come!"
Alpha: "We'll climb the Red Line, overthrow the World Government, and rule the world! I want to become the wife of the King of the World!!!"
Hina blinked.
"Huh?"
The women exchanged confused looks at Alpha, whose face had turned red from excitement.
"When exactly did we decide on such an absurd goal?"
"I don't see anything wrong with it. The Celestial Dragons are nothing compared to our beloved."
Then Alpha raised her hand and cheered Peter on.
"My love, I support you! Become a Celestial Dragon!"
Peter's tail moved on its own.
He felt something stir deep inside him. That hidden desire to stand above everyone else began to tickle his thoughts.
"That... I don't think I'm suited for that."
"Believe in yourself. You can do it."
Alpha, the First Treacherous Minister, immediately began trying to persuade him.
"No, seriously. I have absolutely no experience ruling countries."
"That's fine. Leave those matters to Robin."
Nami, the Second Treacherous Minister, chimed in and pulled Robin beside her without permission.
"And I don't have any legitimate claim to rule the world. Legitimacy is important."
"That's the easiest problem of all. We have a descendant of one of the original Twenty Kings right here. The legitimacy is already prepared."
Stussy, the Third Treacherous Minister, said as she pushed Vivi forward.
Vivi stared at everyone with wide, bewildered eyes.
"Huh? Me?"
Peter turned away and released a long sigh.
"Ah~ I never wanted this, but you've all forced it upon me. I wanted to travel the world freely, but it seems the throne is my destiny."
The women looked at each other, completely unable to understand what he was talking about.
"You idiot, stop acting. Are we leaving or not?"
Hina had finally run out of patience.
Peter pointed at her.
"And why are you in such a hurry? When I become King of the World, the first thing I'll do is throw you into solitary confinement."
"Your Majesty, King of the World, you can do whatever you want after your coronation. For now, let's depart."
Kalifa replied, her patience wearing thin.
"You people have absolutely no sense of humor. How do you even live like this?"
Peter grumbled, but after realizing nobody was interested in continuing the joke, he finally announced:
"Alright, we're leaving. Destination: the Sabaody Archipelago, the final stop in this half of the Grand Line."
"Directly? Shouldn't we return to Angel Island and say goodbye first?"
Robin objected while secretly glancing toward Conis standing off to the side.
But Peter didn't even turn around as he walked toward the bow.
"There's no need. I already told them everything they needed to hear. The island's future is in their hands now."
When Conis heard those words, the last trace of hope vanished from her eyes.
Since boarding the ship, she had been waiting for even a single final farewell.
In the end, she silently bid farewell to her father and her island before taking her first steps toward life at sea.
As for the ship that had once carried Enel all the way to the moon, its speed was no joke.
Watching the clouds race past them at incredible speed, Nami recalculated their route before confidently announcing:
"At this speed, we'll reach the Sabaody Archipelago in two days at most!"
After setting sail, Peter resumed his daily training with the women as usual.
He was facing Hina, Stussy, and Kalifa simultaneously.
The others paired off and immersed themselves in training and sparring. Even Conis, the newest member, had her latent potential awakened by Peter and began training alongside Robin and Mikita.
Peter drove Hina and Kalifa back with an elbow strike, then spun around and kicked Stussy away when she tried to ambush him before answering Nami's question.
"The faster the ship is, the better. That way we can spend a full week at Sabaody before the execution."
"That's true, but Sabaody is very close to Marine Headquarters. Won't our appearance there alert them and ruin the plan?"
"Don't worry. At a time like this, the Marines won't be looking for trouble with us. They already have enough problems dealing with Whitebeard. They won't want another headache. The Marines aren't stupid."
"Makes sense."
Nami accepted the explanation.
What she failed to consider was that Peter wasn't an ordinary person, and Sabaody happened to be one of the places most frequently visited by the Celestial Dragons. Given Peter's personality, if the two sides crossed paths, trouble was practically guaranteed.
But the thought never crossed her mind.
After double-checking the route once more, she glanced at Peter fighting three women alone and suddenly grew curious.
Choosing the perfect moment, she jumped into the battle.
"Hina, I'm with you!"
The result was entirely predictable.
Within seconds, Peter slapped her away and sent her right back where she came from.
Nami collapsed onto her back, clutching her left side with tears in her eyes.
"I'm crying~ How can he hit that hard? This is domestic violence!"
Nojiko saw the scene while sparring with Vivi and immediately turned away.
She had no desire to acknowledge that the person lying flat on the deck was her sister.
Taking advantage of the pause, Vivi drank some water before speaking patiently.
"Nami, there's no point. We're nowhere near their level. Think about the ship instead. Cleaning something this large every day is going to be a nightmare."
Peter didn't ignore her words.
These lazy girls were complaining about cleaning a single ship, while Sengoku had plowed entire fields with his bare hands during his training under Master Rambo.
"Don't even think about slacking off. The ship has seven decks. You'll clean one deck every day. Consider it exercise."
"Easy for you to say. You're not the one cleaning."
Kalifa muttered resentfully while catching her breath.
Peter's foot immediately shot toward her and sent her flying again.
"Do what you're told without arguing. When you become as strong as me, I'll let you give orders."
Kalifa stared at the black footprint now decorating her white clothes before shouting in fury and charging at him once more.
The others, however, had already lost all enthusiasm for training.
They looked down at the massive ship beneath their feet, and their excitement quickly vanished, replaced by nightmares of endless cleaning.
"No, no, no~"
Vivi grabbed her head with both hands.
"At least once a week! We can't do more than that!"
The ship's doctor, Kaya, wore a genuinely pained expression.
"Why did we get a ship this huge in the first place? A smaller one would've been enough!"
Alpha pulled at her golden hair in frustration before a sudden idea flashed through her mind.
"Captain, why don't you create a maid corps? A man of your status without a hundred maids surrounding him? That damages your prestige!"
Peter actually paused his training and seriously considered the suggestion.
Kalifa, who had only just regained her balance, heard her idiot sister's words and immediately tackled her to the ground.
Sitting on Alpha's waist, she grabbed both cheeks and kneaded them mercilessly.
"Please, stop using your brain from now on."
Then she leaned closer and whispered fiercely:
"Have you lost your mind? If he brings a hundred maids onto this ship and ends up liking one of them more than us, what are we supposed to do? Sit together and entertain ourselves?!"
"Ah..."
Alpha instantly forgot her pain.
"I didn't think about that at all..."
Kalifa pinched her cheek before turning her face toward Peter.
"Does he look like a loyal man to you?"
Alpha looked at Peter, who stood with his arms crossed while staring thoughtfully toward the horizon.
Her confidence immediately faltered.
Peter finally returned from his thoughts and met the women's distrustful gazes.
"Why are you all looking at me like that? Have at least a little faith in my sincere feelings for you!"
"Beautiful bullshit."
Vivi muttered quietly.
Unfortunately for her, Peter's sharp ears caught every word.
He moved towards her immediately, lifting her onto his lap, her thighs soft against his.
He pulled her head to his and began kissing her mouth, then slowly slid his tongue against hers, intertwining with hers.
Naturally, Fifi didn't resist, though her face turned bright red with embarrassment at being watched by all those women.
Several minutes later, Peter stood up and asked firmly:
"Do you trust me now?"
The woman looked at Vivi standing beside him.
Her face was completely red, her eyes filled with tears as she desperately tried to hide her embarrassment.
They all nodded immediately.
"We trust you completely."
"That's better."
Even so, Peter calmly declared:
"When we arrive at Sabaody, we'll recruit some maids for the ship. Stussy, that's your responsibility. Whether through recruitment or buying them from the slave market, I want at least one hundred maids who fit my tastes before we leave."
"One hundred? You really enjoy making things complicated."
Stussy said so, but she still accepted the task with a simple nod.
A hundred people were nothing.
With her connections—or simply by applying pressure to the slave traders—gathering that many would be easy.
The only issue was Peter's absurdly high standards. Ordinary candidates wouldn't satisfy him, meaning she would need some time.
Kaya, Karina, and the others stared in shock.
"You agreed that easily?"
Stussy merely shrugged.
"I'm just following orders."
Peter cast a single glance at anyone who wanted to object, and every mouth snapped shut immediately.
And so, the group gained yet another reason to visit Sabaody.
As for the slave traders there, they had no idea that a massive transaction was about to come knocking at their doors.
