Chapter 1237 Observation
Chapter 1237 Observation
Leif sighed softly as she lowered the tablet in her hand. She had just read the coded message from her father, Oceanus, and its contents were very concerning. Stay tuned to empire
It had only been about seven hours since the events in the Crepuscule Auction House ended, and the news of its destruction had already spread among different clans in the Higher Realm. This was not that surprising since most clans had stationed their members in the outer city of the Crepuscule Auction House. They would have already informed their respective clans of the situation when the evacuation order was given. But the thing was, not all clans possessed a communication device that could send reports in real time. Such devices were too complicated and expensive to create, so only those large clans possessed them.
The fact that most of the medium clans were already aware of the Crepuscule Auction House's destruction meant that someone was deliberately spreading the news.
However, that was only a tiny part of why Leif found her father's message concerning. The main concern was that The Emperor had made a move so soon. He ordered all clan leaders and representatives to participate in the upcoming Inter-Clan Conference.
The keyword there was
ordered
.
This made it clear that the Emperor aimed to regain his authority in the Higher Realm. The catalyst for this was probably the three major recent incidents: the disaster at the Tower of the Ancients, the downfall of the Blade Dancer Clan, and the ruin of the Crepuscule Auction House.
Most already knew that two of these incidents involved the Void Master. However, Leif and her clan knew better. All three involved him.
Overall, the conference itself was not an issue. The actual concern stemmed from The Emperor's order that every clan leader be present.
The Dragon Emperor was undergoing an advancement and went into seclusion. It was unknown when he would emerge. If The Emperor got wind of it, he might feel threatened and do something.
Knock! Knock!
After hearing two knocks on her door, Leif was forced out of her contemplation. Following this, Mira's voice asked from the other side.
"Lady Leif, Lady Sisi has already regained consciousness."
Leif looked toward the door and replied, "I'll be there."
A few minutes later, Leif entered the infirmary and found Cyneah healing Alta.
"You should be resting," Leif told Cyneah in concern.
"I'm okay," Cyneah replied, lowering Alta's hand before looking at Leif's direction, who was still standing by the door. "How is Null?"
"Resting in his room," Leif answered with a wry smile. She had already heard from Mira that the latter explained how they found them. But since Kyran did not say much, she passed on explaining how they escaped from The Emperor.
"I can't heal True Void without him," Cyneah stated, "Can you take me to Null's room so we can decide how to heal him?"
"True Void?" Leif guessed that was the name of the other one with them, who looked similar to Kyran's disguise. "Is that his name?"
"He is... I can't explain it well, but technically, he is the Void Master's weapon."
"A weapon that can take on a human form?"
"...I'm sorry I can't answer that."
"..."
"We'll just have to observe for now," Cyneah replied.
Leif looked at Cyneah and felt impressed by the latter's composure. She had thought that, given their relationship, Cyneah would be worried about Kyran by now.
Unbeknownst to Leif, Cyneah was actually very worried. But rather than dwelling on something she could not do, she would rather observe the situation and find another way to help Kyran.
"Without Null, we can't do anything about True Void as well, then."
It was not a question but a statement from Leif.
Cyneah nodded, "Yes."
She looked in Leif's direction and added, "I'll leave him to your care for now."
"Don't worry."
"Thank you."
Leif observed Cyneah and Kyran for a few minutes before leaving the room.
About five minutes after Leif left, Cyneah suddenly said, "How bad are you feeling?"
Kyran slowly opened his eyes and looked at her. His face twisted slightly when he tried to open his mouth to speak.
The truth was Kyran had been awake when Cyneah and Leif entered the room. However, his body was still aching all over. Moving his lips to speak was also a tedious task.
Cyneah realized this soon after she realized she could not channel her magic energy to him.
Anyway, Cyneah wanted to speak with Kyran as soon as possible, so she gave Leif a brief explanation of his condition so she could leave.
Fortunately, Leif did not find anything strange and left without saying much.
"...Terrible..." Kyran replied, his voice barely audible.
Cyneah frowned. Just based on Kyran's voice, his condition might be worse than what he let on. He could not even say more than one word before feeling overly uncomfortable.
"You don't have to speak anymore," she told him, trying to figure out how they could talk.
Telepathy was out of the question because that required magic energy. Since Kyran could not even circulate magic energy, he would not be able to respond to her.
'This is a little frustrating...' Cyneah thought.
She wanted to talk to Kyran and learn what happened after the Macabre Glacier imprisoned her. But given his current condition, they would have to postpone that until he recovered enough.
Still, Cyneah wanted to tell Kyran what she had learned from Haylee, especially about True Void.
Besides, True Void's recovery would be dependent on Kyran.
"...You can listen for now while I talk... I'm sorry that I can't wait for your recovery before saying them."
