Chapter 123: Fighting Back
Chapter 123: Fighting Back
"Aha!! Found you!!"
"Attack!!" Raiden didn’t wait for opponents to get ready as he lunged at them immediately, with Woolie following close behind.
Bang!!
"Awoo!!" He wasn’t able to get very far, though, as two giant black dogs blocked their way, blocking Woolie’s attack while tens of Terra Beasts surrounded him from all sides.
The leader of the men following him, the bald guy, walked forward and looked at him with arrogance.
"Don’t be in such a hurry to die, boy! You are worth much more when you are alive." He sneered as he looked at the figure that was in the middle of their encirclement.
He had small cuts and bleeding all over his body, while his clothes were torn. His shirt was gone, and his body was heaving, showing clear signs of fatigue as he stood there.
"You are celebrating way too early, you damn baldy! Woolie, take care of everyone else. Neva assist him!!" Raiden said as he moved forward directly towards the group of people fearlessly, ignoring all the Terra Beasts that were standing in his way.
"While we can’t kill him, no one said anything about keeping him in one piece. Go Blackie, tear him up." The giant Black Dogs, standing over ten feet tall each, launched themselves at Raiden, but he ignored them directly as he made his way towards that bald guy.
"Grrr!!" One of the dogs opened his mouth to bite down on Raiden while another one clipped at him with his claws.
"Woolie!!" Are you ignoring me, you big black doggy?!
A pearl of thunder erupted from Woolie’s body as he intercepted the attacks, taking them head-on with his body, giving Raiden clear access to the path forward.
"Heh!! You are just a low Silver Class. We have 18 Gold-Tier battle masters among us. How long can you hold on for? Everyone, stay back! This prey is mine!!" The bald guy spoke with a calculating look in his eyes.
He didn’t think handling a Silver Tier guy was too hard by himself. He was forced to take along so many members only because his boss said he was really dangerous, and it was an order. If possible, he didn’t want any other people to take action with him because if they did, he would not be able to argue his case and take a majority share of the bounty for himself.
With a flash of golden light, a massive hog appeared in front of Raiden’s path, blocking his way.
Standing over 7 metres tall, he blew out hot air from his nose, igniting the area around him.
"Shaa!!"
Before the hog could take a single step forward, a blade of light dropped from the sky without warning, impaling it clean through the skull.
BOOM!!
The shockwave from the impact threw up a wall of dirt and debris, knocking the nearest bounty hunters off their feet. When the dust settled, the hog was on its side, completely still, with a perfectly circular hole burned through the centre of its head.
It didn’t even see the attack or get a chance to struggle before it went down with a bang, falling on the floor.
The bald man threw up blood from his mouth as he stared at the fallen beast in horror. He looked at the collapsed Gold-Tier beast, then slowly turned his eyes towards the small, glowing spider sitting on the shirtless boy’s head, whose six eyes were already locked onto the next target with excitement. Silence fell over the entire clearing.
"What... was that??" One of the men behind him whispered.
Nobody answered.
"Sha Sha~" That is what you get for standing in Rai Rai’s way.

Raiden didn’t pause to appreciate the moment. He rushed over the hog’s body without looking down and directly toward the bald man, his claws extended, his expression fierce.
"Woolie. Take care of everyone else."
"Woolie!!"
CRACK-BANG!!!
The sky split as Woolie erupted into full thunder, rushing headlong into the group of bounty hunters and their Terra Beasts without slowing down. The first three Gold-Tier Terra Beasts that tried to intercept him were sent flying on impact, crashing through the trees behind them like cannonballs. The men riding them didn’t even have time to shout.
"Don’t let them separate!! Circle the boy!! Don’t let that spider get line of sight!!"
The bald man’s voice cracked as he finally registered the situation properly. He took a step back before catching himself, pride overriding the instinct.
"No— stand your ground!! It’s two Silver-Tier Beasts and a kid!! We have eighteen Gold Battle Masters and 12 Silvers!! We can overwhelm them!!"
The order worked. While they were afraid of the invisible sword that finished the gold hog in one shot, their greed was louder than their fear.
Twenty Terra Beasts surged at Woolie from different angles simultaneously, forcing him to deal with them all at once. Ten more cut off Neva’s angle, positioning themselves between her and Raiden with wide, overlapping bodies, blocking her line of sight completely.
A few men moved in from the left flank toward Raiden directly.
He dealt with the first one in two steps, a sidestep and a single punch to the solar plexus, dropping him instantly. The second one swung wide with a combat baton and caught nothing but air as Raiden ducked under it and drove an elbow into his ribs, sending him crashing sideways.
He kept walking toward the bald man.
"You—!!" The bald man’s eye twitched. "I said stay back!! He’s mine!!"
But two more of his own people ignored the order and moved in from either side, not willing to risk losing the bounty.
And two more after that.
And then three more.
Within seconds, Raiden had eight people closing in on him from all sides, with six Terra Beasts cutting off Neva completely and Woolie buried under a pile of Gold-Tier beasts who had finally figured out that throwing themselves at him one at a time was not working.
Raiden stopped walking.
He looked left. Then right. Then behind him.
Then he looked at the bald man, who was now sporting a grim smile.
"Ran out of ideas, boy?? Smart of you to finally stop. Now come quietly with us—"
ROAR!!!
The sound came from everywhere at once.
From the jungle itself.
