Chapter 760 - 338: Performance and Battle (Part 2)

Before using it, he already knew the effect of Calamity wasn’t simple, but he didn’t expect the effect could be this intricate.

The effect of the Cursed Space actually inherited even the mechanism that suppresses the Cursed attribute.

Could it be that he wrongly blamed the S-Level Book of Inspiration before, not because it’s too weak, but because his other abilities were too strong?

The shattering of the Will Barrier is like an avalanche; once it starts, it’s hard to stop.

As Hercules captured more companions with the guards, the flaw within his heart grew larger.

It wasn’t long before he was followed by six guards, each with a burly build, holding batons that resembled a Wolf Fang Club.

When the last test subject attempting to escape was caught, tonight’s operation came to an end.

Just when the guards’ amiable expressions gradually turned bizarre, their eyes showing viciousness towards Hercules, Hercules seemed to sense danger and loudly declared:

"Actually, there’s one more person!"

"There’s also an experimental subject named Fire Seed, she has been moving with us all along. Although I can’t find her, she always survives. I suspect she has received help from the institute’s internal staff!"

"I can help you find out, trust me!"

As Hercules took the initiative to request further action, his Will Barrier moved closer to shattering, yet unexpectedly, the guards showed no interest in the information he voluntarily provided.

"Fire Seed is different from you rats, you don’t need to worry about her."

These words completely broke Hercules’ defense; the crisp sound of shattering echoed throughout the Cursed Space.

"Target attacked by a Psychic Monster, Will Barrier severely damaged, Psychic Monster attributes increased by 50%, target attributes weakened to 40% in Cursed Space."

The guards’ attitude wasn’t due to Wu Chang’s secret manipulation.

The Psychic Monsters in the Cursed Space operate on the same mechanism as Amber’s Heart Demon; both are monsters that evolve based on the target’s personal experience.

The significant reaction Hercules had to the words suggests that the implications of the statement—that Amber is different from ordinary rats—is his deepest inner Heart Demon.

To him, this matter is far more torturous than when he betrayed his companions and acted as an informant.

Wu Chang, reflecting in secret, understood why each failed escape attempt at the secret research institute ended with Amber’s survival.

The reason lies partly in her abilities, partly in Amanda’s management assistance, but more significantly, in the official’s deliberate neglect at the secret research institute.

They were using this method to plant a Heart Demon within Amber, to facilitate control or other purposes in the future.

Wu Chang shook his head, refocusing attention on the Cursed Space.

With Hercules’ Will Barrier significantly damaged, the deepest flaw within was exposed by the Psychic Monsters, signaling the end of the drama.

The prelude is over; it’s time to enter the flesh-and-blood battle phase.

Before Hercules could come up with something more valuable than reporting Fire Seed, the Guard Leader was already swinging the Wolf Fang Club upwards, striking his jaw fiercely.

Hercules’ petite body instantly flew, spitting out a mouthful of blood mixed with his front teeth.

The damage caused by Psychic Monsters is soul-targeting, and even with the Lion Skin Armor, he couldn’t be immune.

Upon taking the hit, Hercules’ body reverted from child to adult man.

Clutching his jaw, he murmured, "Why? I said everything I could."

The Guard Leader wielding the Wolf Fang Club laughed and replied:

"There’s no why; I just feel you’re useless, it’s time to wrap things up."

With the Guard Leader’s assault, Hercules emerged from the theatrical phase atmosphere, and after a brief daze, he came to his senses.

Regaining consciousness, Hercules recalled everything that had happened, his blood surged, instantly entering a state combining red heat and blood rage.

"You all should die! And so should that Desolate Realm kid!"

He retrieved the Sword and Shield from his portable space, leaping forward, charging directly at the Guard Leader.

During the theatrical phase, the attribute increase of the Psychic Monsters exceeded 150%, yet before the enraged Hercules, it still wasn’t enough.

Hercules used the shield to block the Guard Leader’s Wolf Fang Club, pushing back with the shield and ramming it into the Guard Leader’s face.

As the Guard Leader groaned in pain, Hercules turned the Longsword and stabbed downward along the Guard Leader’s neck, piercing all the way to the hilt.

Then, he forcibly twisted, severing the Guard Leader’s head.

With the severed head in his hand held high, Hercules shouted as if venting all his previous frustration and fear.

Under usual circumstances, such brutal and violent methods of executing the prime villain would intimidate other targets, causing them to hesitate or flee.

But the Psychic Monsters don’t care about such matters nor the atmosphere.

While Hercules roared at the sky, four or five Wolf Fang Clubs were already pounding on his head and chest.

Hercules ordinarily wouldn’t mind facing ordinary iron arms, yet as the clubs hit his body, he felt something was off; the soul-shaking resonance made his brain buzz.

His high-pitched roar was cut short, brutally interrupted by successive strikes from the clubs.

He raised the shield over his head, swinging the Longsword around, exploiting the guards’ retreat to awkwardly escape the encirclement.
