Chapter 174: Ruthless Bandit. This is the Real Ruthless Bandit!
At this moment, everyone watching the live broadcast was utterly impressed. Wang Yun’s tactic of the ‘human bomb’ showcased his role as a ruthless bandit to perfection.
All eyes were on this individual.
This person was also equipped with a camera, allowing Wang Yun to see everything. Consequently, everyone in the livestream could watch a rebroadcast as well.
“Captain! There’s someone here.”
The program inspectors searching for Wang Yun suddenly noticed movement in the grass at twelve o’clock to the south. A figure swiftly flashed by, prompting an immediate response from the inspectors.
“Go!”
Upon hearing the alert, Wang Yue instantly sprinted southwards, with her team of over thirty program inspectors in tow.
“Stop, don’t move! Move again and I’ll shoot!”
The figure of Wang Yun’s subordinate was now visible. He intentionally drew the attention of all the program inspectors. As he ran, he occasionally glanced back, seeing Wang Yue and her team rapidly closing in on him.
“Time your shot, fire on my command,” Wang Yue yelled as she followed closely behind.
They had clear intelligence on Wang Yun, as Zhao Bing had detailed thoroughly. Thus, whether to capture or shoot this man made no difference to their strategy.
Given Wang Yun had fled and left this man behind to monitor, it was clear he had abandoned him. Even if he hadn’t, Wang Yun’s character suggested he wouldn’t risk having this man rejoin him, especially if there was a chance he had been compromised.
Bang! Bang!
Shots rang out from the program inspectors at the front.
Leading the charge were some of the Indian team’s inspectors. Captain Dragon Hand had briefed them before their departure; be decisive upon spotting any traces.
The reputation of the Indian team had suffered too much. They needed to make a statement. Moreover, their national prowess in endurance and sprinting was legendary. Pursuing on foot was practically a walkover for them.
The gunfire continued, echoing shot after shot.
Several times, the bullets almost hit the man. Every tree and patch of ground he passed was shot up, sparks flying off the rocks.
Boom! The next moment, the mountain shook violently. Every bird in the vicinity was startled, flapping their wings and screeching sharply as they took to the sky.
Simultaneously, a piercing alarm sounded.
“You are out,” announced the voice of the production crew in the ears of all thirteen people.
“Bomb! Human bomb!”
Wang Yue and others stood up from behind a rock. Though it was a simulated bomb, the demonstration had to be realistic. In a real situation, the force of the explosion would certainly have caused the surrounding rocks and trees to shake and debris to scatter. Without finding proper cover, injuries were inevitable.
“Damn it!”
Wang Yue rushed over, her eyes filled with fury as she looked down at her inspectors sprawled on the ground–three of whom were from her own team of program inspectors.
“He... he was actually wearing a bomb,” a fellow program inspector at the scene uttered in disbelief, horrified by the tragic sight before them.
“This isn’t the first time Wang Yun has done this,” she exclaimed. “It’s my fault, I didn’t keep up in time.”
Wang Yue was overwhelmed with grief as she observed the scene, which painfully reminded her of a similar event that had previously unfolded in a tunnel. She had let her guard down.
If only she had noticed sooner. If only she had warned her team earlier. Or, perhaps if not all their attention had been focused on chasing this single assassin, they might have mitigated the losses.
Thirteen program inspectors, thirteen lives!
Despite knowing it was all an act, Wang Yue felt an ache in her heart as sharp as if a thousand arrows had pierced through it. The sense of immersion was profoundly intense.
“Captain Wang Yue, it’s not your fault. The man was hypnotized,” Ying Yuezi’s voice came through the intercom as they witnessed the scene unfold.
“Wang Yun is heartless. No one expected him to hypnotize his own men to turn them into human bombs,” Ying Yuezi added, her voice low and shocked.
The room fell into stunned silence, everyone’s faces etched with horror.
“He’s merciless. He actually let his own man sacrifice himself. Is he even human?” Kolyev exclaimed loudly, cursing.
Wu Yaoming shook his head bitterly. “Indeed, it’s our oversight. Wang Yun has always been a ruthless fugitive from the start. A true ruthless fugitive!”
